MacRetro chat and rides thread

Still need to get the Hardrock washed and back to SS mode, as well as pop the rear mech back on the iDrivel. Might also take the opportunity to fit the Syncros stem to it and the XT shifters that I bought for it a while ago.

Also getting the Stumpy SS'ed and ready for Thrunton... it fought me tooth and nail tonight while I was trying to put on the pink brake cable outers, ended up with a stray brake cable strand sunk nice and deep into a finger. Ordered some more pink stuff for it tonight from CRC just to spite it. I'm going to run it 36/20, which is as close (and more importantly cheap) as I can get to Si's recommended 32/18 ratio.

Looks like Gil will be able to print off my home brew Rockhopper decals, so I really need to get moving on the frame. I'd still like to strip and paint it myself, just to see if I can actually do it, although the thought of just dropping it off for powdercoating has its appeal. Talking of which, can anyone loan me a lockring spanner for removing the old BB locking collar? It's the one with the 3 notches.

Talking of rides, I need to do a recce of the North Third near Stirling - might make a good meet.

what's your MacRetro goal of the month, chaps?

I'm going to go through my bits and get them all on eBay. Probably the Boulder frame too.

Things to sort..
1 I want to find a new Stronglight headset for the Cannondale; Gimplord lost some of the bearing races when he had it. It would be nice to get it ridable again.

2 Try and get the rest of the Mavic 845 stuff for the Goat

3 Swap some tyres round, minty NOS stuff on the wall hangers and the scruffier ones that work on the riders. Going to do this tonight.

4 Find cranks for the Fat Ti

5 Work out a way to fit more bikes into the garage so Mrs S can have the utility room back and get on with some chores

6 Stop smoking (again)

7 Make sure everyone has a good time in Thrunton on the 24th

Cheers Gazz, much appreciated. I suppose this means I'll have to get off my erse and do something with the bike now

I'm definitely up for that Stirling Run looks fantastic.

Goals this month - make the roady ridable
Fit a new floor and shower in the bathroom

this is more likely....
Work 12 hour days until I collapse at the November deadline

Don't have a when yet Mr P, from the pdf it looks promising, but I should take a wee gander first (possibly weekend after next), get my bearings and make sure it's worth a run out for us all.
