Technique number 5476 of seat post removal....failed. Covered the seat tube with towels and pored a kettle of boiling water over it. No good.

Will attempt last non destructive removal method tonight, I'm going to fabricate a suitable lever to twist the post.

is it shimmed? Take it you can't put a saddle on, to act as leverage?

You still shaking down on friday? Think Ill get out the morra and then a short run on friday just to check everything before the race.

After having some success unsticking pedals, I've been soaking my stuck seat post in automatic transmission fluid for a few days. I'll bamp a seat on it at some point this week and try twisting it out. Also, at some point the caustic soda all bubbled out of the bottle holder bolt hole and stripped off lots of paint :( bollocks.

Shonkjumper all cabled up (its official - cantis can die in a fire btw, give me a nice set of hydraulic whatevers to bleed any day). Chain and mech setup tonight, then shakedown ride tomorrow. Ulp.

Si - Another horrible bike for your collection I see - what were you thinking? ;)

while I'm at it- I have some really nice marathon plus slicks which are practically puncture proof but are heavy because of the thick rubber- I was a dickhead and got rid of some really nice light sports contact tyres recently and wondered if anyone had something similar and fancied a swap- looking for fast bike slick tyres- anyone?

I've still to try the Diesel actually but I'll add auto trans fluid to the list :)

what kind of post is it? if it is hollow topped like a use post?

if so use a long threaded rod with a shaped washer (and nut) on the end on the end,
get that below the the post let the washer catch the base of the post, lock the frame down under a vice (not in it),
put a support above the vice with the rod going through it, with another strong washer and nut,

then start to tighten the nut. should work, it does in my head, I could draw you a pic if you want.

i've got a 10 litre jerry can full of red diesel if your wanting some ? it followed me back from work one day

since we're throwing ideas about , how about a porta power ? there the things car body shops use to press chassis back into shape......

they work like a grease gun all you'd need to do is jam the bottom of the frame up against something and push the post in further another 5/10mm that'll break the rust and it should twist out ?

Once tried that and seriously ovalised the Bottom bracket shell.

Have you tried Semtex?
