I think I'm set for the 7sp though, I revived the old cassette off my Hardrock, and the Alivio rear mech should do the trick once I get some new jockeys for it.

Not terrible to do at all, it'd just look terrible

After a recent near miss and a fair bit of shouting on the road (i do have a short fuse) i've decided a road bike is not for me, roads are best avoided as long as there are so many idiots driving cars, was considering building the Clockwork with big gears and slicks (or semi slicks) for hammering the cycle path to Girvan as a training run.

RE Brakes, cheers for the offer Si but i bit the bullet yesterday and went for the ones from CRC, the TRP set were the ones i had my eye on but they are out of stock with the levers so went for TRP brakes and XT levers.

Mark, riding off road is very risky and often results in injury for me at least, thats why I do it. Tarmac is easy, I used to deliberately ride fast through central Edinburgh 'car jousting' just to stay awake

Remember when driving your probably one of the idiots cyclists dislike especially if you've got a short fuse. I've been sworn at by cyclists and vice versa myself :roll:
