MacRetro chat and rides thread

Just back in from mini college re-union night out in Glasgow. It's amazing how little people change in 20 years. And this is a good thing. Mostly. That is all. Apart from bagels and peanut butter. MMMMMM!

Sorry, I have nothing bike related to add whatsoever

Oh wait. Apart from the fact that a guy I bought a Peugeot road bike from 20 years couldn't remember that I still owed him £30 for it. Score! If only my dad hadn't chucked it out 3 years ago :(

Had a spin with the yo tonight albeit with just one brake- and it is very direct, got a shorter stem coming as well as a king ring and saddle but might try and get her up and running this weekend ss is just about the only way to go IMHO , simple and light and unless it's an all day thang who needs gears anyway?

Btw almost 200 pages WTF!

I was reading another forum( ) and somone had posted about ' doing more with less' it kinda rang true of retro stuff and singlespeed. Also ties in with your retro stuff is shite post a page back.

ps how amazing does king ring sound  'feel ma king ring ya whallers'

Mind you Big King Ring would be even better- lets hope it works ok, the teeth are not as deep but it does look nice. I would be tempted to go SS on everything but that would then give me no excuse to have them and I'd have to go down to 2 bikes

Faffed about for 40 mins with canti's last night and then decided that v's are retro too, set up in 5 mins and work as well, in a year all the retro parts will be gone just some retro frames if this mindset goes on!

Think I might get out today on a wee run get the last of the drink out of my system, I'm getting to old for this stuff.

BTW kaiser , watched a film last night "away we go" dir by sam mendes and apart from being sheeeeeeeeeeeeeite the main character was 6 months pregnant.

Its a nice day over here in east coaster land so I'm heading down to Glentress for a slow slog around, hope to hit the bottom carpark by 11am. Feel free to join me anyone if you've nothing better to do.

Cheers

Velo

you boys might need to live with the "you'll have had your tea" mob but you are very lucky having the tress so close- have a cracker velo- what you taking?

Hardrock, show those full sus mincers what its all about

Must come over to see you Gaz to check out those new trails near you ;)

would be up for that, just needs to be dry as they do get that wee bit boggy- happy trails and give the young wippersnappers hell :D

AWWWWRRRITE TROOPS  , i will probably need to miss Kielder but the end of Oct should be ok ;)

Switching the E3 to V's now, had a major falling out with the Maguras during the week :x , so they have to go now, got my eye on a set of mo*ern lightweight V's at CRC, just spent a fair bit of money on wheels for the car though so think i'll need to offload some stuff to buy them so if anyone is interested in the Maguras let me know, also have a nice set of blue flavoured wheels and tyres and possibly the 94 FSR for sale too, available to MacRetro before anyone else ;)

Just back form a nice spin out to Bridge of Weir on the Klunker, rear hub is now packed with grease so it does'nt sound like it's going to fall appart now

Enid I was replying to gash's extravagance of spending £60 on cranks , Thats too much of a luxury to stand on  But bars and stems are something you touch and ultimately determine the feel and fit of the bike so the higher cost of the right stuff is more justified .

I did also snipe the 200pager while you were all napping

Bike is technically finished and ill let you know about the wheel Wednesday , my £10 flight is nice and comfy
