Weather was great here also got a great 3.5 hour ride up the the windfarm on eaglesham moor trying to find a circular route thru darvel and home- didn't manage but am perfecting a half hourly eating programme to ward off the bonk  no energy gels just caramel wafers ha ha! Want to get a all day cross country route sorted for a future macretro meet.

Never riding a bike again.

Blooming bikes

collapses

Ouch, creak, ouch, :( :?

It was hell. So much so that it was decided not to do a report and never mention it again.

I had a hangover to start with and broke the black FAT at the top of the first killer climb, which meant riding back down to get a spare bike outa the van( falling twice and hitting a tree in the process due to steering failure- I got back with the bars at 45deg and they only turned the forks when going right).
Then had to do the ride on the SS Cotic with stupid 32/15 ratio and a 850ft climb in the first 2 miles. We were harrassed by walkers and a game keeper who tried to run us over in his Land before giving us grief and then at half distance ventured into a pub that had last seen a customer (and a cleaner for that matter) sometime around 1975, with a creepy one eyed bar man as an added bonus.
The climbs, and they were frequent and un-ending, absolutely tortured me and I ache like I have been hit by a bus.
Gil took his 37lb Surley Pugsley and struggled like crazy all day, joining me in the misery guts club at the back.
There were a few good bits- the weather was great (although a strong headwind appeared from nowhere on the only dowhill of the outbound journey), good craic as usual and new recruit Kaya turned out to be an absolute top bloke and knew the woods really well and found us a real rollercoaster route back down to the carpark.
So not a classic, probably gonna hurt for a few days, but hey, better than a smacked arse I guess.

Si

sorry to hear your tale of woe, however only a man of great planning and foresight would have a backup bike! Would have been hometome for me. I had the clockwork bars go 90 to the direction I was travelling and I sympathize not a nice way to fall ( mind you is there really a good way?).

Which doughball planned the hill strewn route anyway

Can't wait for the bothy run if it is oat lile your ride today.

Is the fat ok btw?

Yeah nearly forgot are you alright too

What have you done to the FAT? I dunno some folk  look at the ride as good training.

To join you in your misery my new project landed yesterday.... and my ebay gamble did not payoff :( It was the Yo that was on the 3 day listing and I'll admit to getting a bit carried away in bidding especially as the pics were poor and what pic there was you could see the paint wasn't great. Had been hoping it was crud but alas no theres quite a few chips and rust stains. Adding to this is a stuck moby seatpost (also with a broken clevis pin ). A few mails back and forth with the seller got me a discount which all in I'm kinda happy about. Anyway I now have a Fat chance yo eddy with a stuck post and a ropey aqua fade paint job....... but I'm still quite looking forward to it :D already scored a 1" CK no logo for £25.

Look forward to seeing it kaiser and I have a veryshort moby post that you can have for not much if you want to harvest the bolt, if it survives extraction? Result on the headset and the good thing about the less than perfect paint is you will not be afraid to ride the bad boy.

Make sure you bombard I beileive in fixies with begging pm's entreating him to give me the bike frame, it is so nice I always loved them bitd

You going to brave the rain today? Off to the magnum today yipee!
