Gazz - any chance you could pick up pair of those panaracer xc's for me, local Halfords devoid of anything approaching a decent deal. Let me know - I can paypal over the money and perhaps rustle up a virtual Star bar ;)

Good run up the Pentlands the day, well covered in mud and sheep shit by the end of it. Paced myself reasonably well, and managed almost 4 hours although nowhere near a race pace and I didn't have much left in the tank by the end. Weird, my arms were hurting more than my legs when I got back to the car. Apart from the wind, weather was brilliant. Burns and runoffs in full spate after all the rain, and it's really muddy in places, took me a while to get into the groove, was really a bit too tentative at first, but was digging it at the end. A good use of 1 days annual leave I reckon.

So what's the verdict on those waterproof socks? Anyone use them? Feet were soaking pretty early on, and those waterproof bootee things wouldn't have helped much either, since the water just comes battering in through the holes in the soles for the SPDs.

Looking forward to Sunday, legs and arms should be halfway normal feeling by then... Shall be taking it easy tomorrow with an Edinburgh festival day out with the offspring.

sounds like a great ride ZigZag

For MTB to fair well on a cycling cool wall we'd need a Clarkson type person from the mtb world in charge. Road and track are way more popular worldwide than mountain biking.

So Gaz, can you fill the Clarkson role ;)

Surely for a Clarkson you need an overweight, overbearing, opinionated Yorkshireman? Someone with taste?

Ahem!

I will be Clarkson, Gazz can be the pretty one.

Si

theres a pretty one?

I want to be the stig!!!!!!

Yes, was just gonna ask the same thing. Drumlanrig early doors any good?

let me confirm tonight, morv is at work at the mo. I would really need to be back for about 12 so would need to be a really early start, you good for that?

No probs will confirm tonight, lets us check the weather too.

Dont talk to me about Hellfrauds :x , popped my wheel rims and hubs for the Bomber build into them last week, (after getting a quote off Evans and then Evans saying the could'nt do them till the end of September), got a quote off Hallfords, no more than £50, great, booked the job in, great, got a phone call off them durring the week to say the could'nt do them  , guy said they had stopped building wheels a while ago, "why did you quote me and book them in then ?", "well the other guy should'nt have done that, sorry" :x
Soooooooooooooooo, i phoned Dooleys, get this, £56 per wheel
 , maybe i'm out of touch but £112 to build two frickin wheels, the guy said they only use DT double butted spokes at a pound each, i need 72 of the things, anyway i dont want double butted spokes, be a complete waste of time when the rear hub alone on the beast weighs 4lb.

Building these wheels is the only thing i cant do myself and the only thing holding the project up, the amount of hastle and fecking about trying to get it done has been unbelievable

There's a place in Johnstone i'm going to try thismorning if no joy with that whole thing is getting shelved for now :x

Bloody hell Jimi, that's ridiculous. Had you thought about giving it a go yourself, using the bike itself as a truing stand? Looks time consuming but would be an interesting way to spend a few hours. Nice skill to have too.

Gazz - Cheers mate, that'd be great if you could pick them up. Hang on to them until the next meet and I'll grab them then. Let me know your paypal info and I'll get the money over.
