MacRetro chat and rides thread

They are IIRC pro levers and enduro 4 callipers. They do need fitted and hoses run etc. And as such they are untested. They were being kept for a rainy day project. If your still interested I'll work out a price and take some pics.

Not farmiliar with the enduro calipers but if the pro levers are for the closed system they will do, will you sell the levers seperate ?

I didn't know you had a red one Gazz  , i spotted the recovered one on Jerky's thread and told him he needed to sell it to me  , he's offered to recover it too if there is any problems with it which seems decent

Sorry bud, if I'm going to shift them it'd be better as a set.

looks great and very tidy- does it add a lot of drag if you know what I mean zigzag?

It's the same set-up I use on the Cotic (but DMR) and it works fine, reasonably quiet, no noticable drag, makes the bike look cleaner and less cluttered and it's out of harms way. It can get a lot of shite thrown on it and will wear if riden in sandy conditions regularly. It also gives the chain more 'wrap' around ring and sprocket than a push down tensioner.
I'd give the system 10 out of 10.

Aye, I'm surprised more folk don't use one myself. Only disadvantage might be it taking a thump off a big boulder, since it is quite exposed angling down from the BB like that.

Picked up the Rockhopper from cocodemer at Comrie Croft after the Pentlands jaunt. Not quite as scary as the pics in the for sale thread made out, but she's nae oil painting either. And excuse the mess, I really must have a word with the maid...

You can see where it's been touched up with a lighter blue paint, but I don't really mind it... Blue camo?

Also got bonus original rear wheel, plus (and this is where it get's interesting) this...

Only problems... Bent hanger and stuck seatpost

Time to read up on caustic soda methinks...

That looks very cool, love the sunken top tube of the rm bikes. Ss it and hanger didn't matter and if all else fails a hacksaw will get the post out- love it

Good work ZZ another top bike :D the RM would make a great SS. In fact it is really nice. Quite fancied a RM in the past, look pretty hardcore.

As for BB tensioners I have a YESS tensioner waiting for summat. It got a great write up in MTBR thread. Same deal as ZZ's and the good Dr's but designed for SS in mind (whatever the difference may be)

It shouldn't get a hit there- the chainring will take the hit and then roll onto the wheel- if its tucked up enough its out of harms way.

I was out on my local loop last night with mine (really diggin' this SS lark) and halfway round there is a tree across the trail- I have built up to it with branches and muck so you can ride over it and roll into the drop on the other side. This involves the trunk hitting the ring and then onto the tyres- but it clears the tensioner with plenty to spare.
