MacRetro chat and rides thread

Went for a late afternoon SS run up Glentress the day. Liking the Blackspire Stinger tensioner at the front very much :) Not sure about the bar-ends I slapped on - thought they might help on the climbs, not sure they really did though.

Started out from the cafe shadowing a guy running up the hill - overtook him, I stopped to stretch my back, he overtook me, I stopped again, past he went, etc. This went on until he eventually lost me at the second set of climbs after Pennel's Vennel. I was sure I was going to see him at some point on the downhill after, but to my shame I never did catch him up. Seriously fit maniac. Anyway, good to be back on the SS after about 3 weeks off.

jimi what are the seals like for the hope's and how are they supported?

I made a seal years back for an old airbrush by casting the damaged seal with plaster of paris and re making it by srcaping out the crack it had and pouring in liquid latex.

In my case obviously failure was not life threatening but it might be worth trying as long as the pressure is not too high and the seal is supported on both sides - It might rule out a piston seal but it might be worth a try.

The main seal on the master cylinder is like a wedge shaped 'O' ring, it is on the main rod going through the master cylinder, i've seen a rubber parts casting kits Frost restorations sells, i think that's intended for reproducing rare pedal rubbers and the like though, should imagine there'd be a high pressure on that main seal, think i'd be a bit nervous trusting a seal i'd made when gunning down spooky wood at 40+mph  , then again probably no worse than trusting crispy ten year old seals :)

Some fettling progress south o the border too. Yo Eddy is 99% finished now and had it out for a shakedown this morning. Two little decals from Gil and it's another one done.
Put the Boulder together tonight- just shifters to put on and that's this months BoTM entry ready.
And last but least the Goat has landed. Very very scruffy but with plenty of elbow grease it's coming up nice. I've ordered a decal set and have touched in and machine polished the black parts of the frame. Will mix up some orange on monday and get those bits sorted. It's going to look good without the hassle of a full shoot which is a real bonus as I could not be arsed. It's a nice little frame with some nice touches- bottle bosses are external and stand proud of the frame- the thinking was that drilling a hole in the frame would weaken it. There are some nice reinforcing collars around the head tube and the rear canti hanger is a work of art.
I was worried about the size, thought it might be too small but it's the same size as a small/Medium Fat which I have had in the past. Headtube is only a half inch shorter than my medium Yo too.
Looking forward to get it built up and using it to kick your asses in Kielder!

Si

 and anything else?

Nicked the idea from Dr. S - he did the same with his Cotic. It does look tidier.

Could cut your grass, wash the car etc
