Hey MacRetro, how's it hanging? Back from hols but too tired to go through all the threads. So what's been happening the last few weeks?

not too much, the trip to Arran is gathering pace, Marks started a Klunker project, Gazz is away on hols, I've disbanded the stumpy in a bid to get the FAT and Salsa finished. The weekend up north is in the background but do you still fancy it?

Got the SS out at the weekend for the first time. Pentlands on Friday - got shown a great new route although it was a bit of a disaster with multiple punctures (note to self: don't be a cheap twat and reuse old moth-eaten inner tubes). Top bloke gave me his spare inner tube (after I managed to snap the bloody stem off mine) and that got me back to the car.

Sunday armed with new inner tubes went for a burl up Carron Valley. Worn Conti Leaders plus wet stone equals no grip. Not very confidence inspiring, I was very tentative on the switchbacks and Eas Dubh, and I'm not liking my new pedals either - unlike my other spuds, they don't seem to automatically come round 'face-up' when you need to reclip in. I need to refurb the two sided DXs and get them on. Aside, from that, not too bad, especially when the rain stopped and things began to dry out. Chain came off 4 times in the last hour, so need to figure that out. Got a puncture right at the end of the Runway too - no doubt a heavy landing after getting 2 inches of air time. Oof. So much for these Slime inner tubes.

Anyway, I'm enjoying the bike and nothing's fell off yet (apart from me). Just need to sort out the pedals, chain and get some sensible tyres on the thing.

Should try and get another Pollock meet soonish, try and get ZigZag along so we can help him sort his SS. Afterall Pollock is SS perfect :D

Did you and Mark make it to Pollock yesterday then? Lisa's first run was good on the Pashley, she enjoyed it so much that there's hope yet for getting her on an MTB. :D

Definitely up for that, though this weekend is out, I get my wee girl back after 2 weeks hols with her mum.

I'm running the tensioner in push up position since I only have 16t on the back - problem is my Surly doesn't have a push-up spring, so tie-wrap bodge to the chainstay. Not very elegant, but the tension is fine - I'm thinking I probably need to put the chain guides back on the jockey wheel arm - the chain was really only coming off on the speedy/bumpy stuff.
