MacRetro chat and rides thread

AC how does the fixed fare over the rough stuff? I ride a fixed to work and even jumping kerbs etc takes a bit of nouce. Do you have to be uber line perfect?

It was surprisingly smooth over roots and the like, even with the 41mm cross tires. Not entirely sure why but could be some of that much touted 29er thing of the bigger wheels taking the bumps better. Oddly the whole ride seemed somehow less jarring than the rigid Inbred. :?

I did find that I was picking lines more carefully than I normally do but that was more down to not wanting to ground the cranks. As to jumping, the one time I made it into the air I remembered to keep pedaling which I'm happy about and when it comes to bunny hopping I just tend to go for it no matter what position the cranks are in. SPD's probably make that possible, not sure I'd want to try it on flats.

Right- 6 o'clock sat morning at mine- Jimi do you need directions? I will pm you my address. I will do a route map thing but was kind of hoping to just follow  as I am pretty rubbish at finding my way places I have never been before.

List of things to bring

Maps
Money
Bike
Tent
sleeping bag
top tunes
shoes (for you kaiser)
race number!
2 sets of cycling apparel
drugs EPO etc..(optional)

Any more?

all seems to easy what have I forgotten?

6 is cool, I shall do a AA routefinder. Since we're not in the first flurry of youth I would recommend a bed of some sort, even if it is just a camping mat. Oh and some food too.

The likely hood of any of any you guys taking "top tunes" is fairly slim (gazz gets a slight reprieve by virtue of his Neil Young fetish).

i might have a foot pump thing , is it one of those inch hose couplings ?

I will measure the size of my coupling tonight Perry

You could be a life saver, save me bunking in with kaiser in his 5 man tent- think he is going to rough it with a queen size matress.

AC could swing by and get you  (just don't tell her, say your going for an early run at pollok), you can ensure the tunes are top- a man that hangs about with Vic galloway is needed on this trip. 8)
