MacRetro chat and rides thread

Apparently that's a good one, think I read a magazine article about riding to the Cape up the west coast approaching from the south. Mind you its all subject to whether the RAF are bombing the f**k out of some rocky isle just off the coast !

I'm thinking I'd quite like a single speed road bike for the summer.
I'm also thinking my On One 29er with drop bars might work.....

Feasible? Or laughable? :?

The laughing will be done by you.

Put Big Apples on it (or a similar 2.35" balloon tyre) and you'll love the way it floats along effortlessly. Not to mention the ability to really use brakes hard or corner like a motorbike.

I did it with my On-One Scandal a few years back. It was very successful, loved it. Did a 125 mile day ride round Wester Ross and it just demolished the crap road surfaces.

Your On-One has a reasonably steep HA, so it's perfect for this use.

You'll also discover you're riding the future of the gravel bike because it will still be perfectly competent offroad within the limitations of slick tyres. In 5 years time no one will want a gravel bike limited to 47mm tyres.

Hmmm.... Thanks chaps. It shouldn't be too much trouble to try this out (no mechs or shifters to faff about with at least :) ).
Just have to find where I put the bits I need!
