Tyre Talk Tuesday: I'm looking for an 80's amberwall mtb tyre, what was available and any good?
My bike currently has 26x1.75 "Duro" tyres which are similar to what it would have come out the factory with, but tbh they're not great off-road.

Something 26x2.0 or thereabouts would be good. Been looking at the following...

Panaracer Smoke? (Are they 80's?)
Panaracer Timbuk 2 re-issue
Specialised Ground Control ??

Smokes are later, 91-92ish i think.
Tumbuk ii's are great tyres, had them bitd on my first bike around 1989 and have several pairs of the re-issue ones. Trouble is finding them now at a good price. I posted up an eBay listing for a Raleigh thunder road with ground controls on it which looked in pretty good nick ( think it was in Yorkshire too). Have a look in the eBay section and you'll find my thread.

Thanks Dyna, I've added it to my "Watch" list, would rather get just some tyres though tbh rather thsn get yet another bike just for the tyres on it
