I can see them.
Thank you very much for the infos and pictures. " Jack Macklam was West Yorkshire Road Race Champion in 1959 and 1963, Yorkshire Best All Rounder in 1961 and Tour of Britain rider in the sixties" I found on the blog of Leeds St. Christophers CC.Bernard had a couple of shops in the Crossgates area when he started on his own after MKM. He built quite a lot of frames for local riders (and local shops for rebranding) over the years - including me - and he also performed a 'makeover' on my '72 Dave Russell. His 'brand' name was 'Sergio' and I used this on the refinished DR. The new frame he built (c. 1985) was TT frame with 75' angles and a short WB. When I first picked it up and took it home I discovered that something was seriously awry with the forks. I would have needed a Weinmann 730 brake stirrup at full stretch to reach the rim. The back brake clearance was similar so I took it back. Bernard couldn't explain the reason but he took the forks back and cut an inch or so from the ends of the blades. As the paint was ruined he had them fully chromed instead. The rear brake was sorted with a Campag drop bolt as I was using Campag GS brake stirrups anyway. The frame was very responsive and I did some good rides on it for the next few seasons. I also was given a frame some years ago branded 'Bill Hargreaves' from Batley. Bernard's nephew Vince (brother Jack's son) reckoned it was one of 'Uncle Bernard's' when he saw it after shot blasting. As it's origins weren't absolutely 100% definite I made up some decals of my own.
Jack was a very good rider BITD, riding the Milk Race and (I think) getting a top twelve placing the British Best Allrounder annual competition. He was still TT'ing up to around 10-12 years ago along with brother Peter, both riding for Leeds St Christophers CC. I believe that Jack was known as being a very good wheel builder, working for a local shop in Crossgates, but I can't personally comment. Son Vince was also a very good rider until he had an accident after which he never raced again.
Here are a couple of photos of my 'Macklams' -

My Flandria 'homage' using the probable Macklam.
Sorry to say that the last I heard of Bernard was that he was working a a taxi driver in Leeds.
