Go for it, Surly owners on here all love their bikes; so overpriced they might be they're still great bikes !

The Troll could keep the Long Haul Trucker company ;)

Surly's are not overpriced at all Velo, and certainly not in the Fatbike market. Buying a frame and building it up is always the cheaper way to go regardless of brand.
The troll is pretty much a 1X1 with a gear hanger :) Great machine.

The nice thing about a Surly is you can buy secondhand and not have to worry about whether its previous life has compromised it.

Alloy frames that have been in the hands of a serial abuser may not have much life left. We've all seen the spectacular unexpected breakages.

Carbon frames are much the same in the current state of development, although I'd be more confident of being able to repair one, and they will get better. But if you want to talk expensive...

If the Surly* looks ok, it is almost certainly ok. The difference between a new one and an old one is simply the paint looks better on the new one.

With a Surly you get long life so the value years/£ ratio is good.

*Yeah, I know about the infamous cracking seat tube, but they have been fixed under warranty, and even then it is fixable.

Enough of the Surly Fanboy bit !!!
This site demands a commision from Surly for the advertising space
