Lucky Find- '90 Raleigh DynaTech Mission (Update 20/3/10)

Dyna-Tech Mission 1991

Just been directed to this thread by my son.

Very pleased to see pictures of the Mission and it brings back many happy memories.

I own a Mission and it is still in perfect working order with very little in the way of rust or marks. I bought it new in 1992 (1991 model) after having my previous bike stolen from my garage. My son had a Dyna-Tech DX, the titanium model, which was also stolen. I still have the original purchase receipt and handbook along with the builders card that came with the bike, a guy called Ken Tongue built my bike and he obviously did a brilliant job!

Unfortunately I did change some of the components to make, in my opinion, a better ride. I fitted Rock Shock forks and later a Vee brake (DX) to the rear. The bike has a full Deore DX groupset which in my opinion was better than XT because it was a bit more robust. It still works flawlessly. I used the bike for 'proper' mountain biking, spending many long weekends up in the Lake District, camping with my sons and riding some superb tracks. The condition of my bike now is testament to the build quality.

I hope to follow up this post by adding some photos of my bike once I have sorted out how to do it!

Cheers
Steve.
