LTS Parts

Hi. Whenever GT enthusiasts as here about LTS parts, they are directed to BETD. I have gathered that the replacement parts of offer from BETD for the LTS are actually "enhancements" rather than replacements - is this correct?

I have also noted LTS replacement parts on eBay USA:

Pretty much the same as my BETD question - are these enhancements or replacements?

Mark

BETD claims that some of their parts are enhancements and may be but it would be nice if someone that's used them would chime in. I'm a good personal acquaintance with the owner of Ben's Cyclery in Milwaukee, WI one of the eBay.com sellers that has LTS parts and have have always known them to be great to deal with. What they sell are original GT parts.

Thanks for the response. I recall reading a long time ago about the "improvement" an LTS owner received when they replaced their LTS parts with those from BETD, but it was unclear to me whether the improvement was because they were "new" or "different". I also came to a conclusion that the original parts were "bushings", but BETD's parts were "bearings", hence their high cost. But I may be totally wrong.

Hi Mark,

I think its a little from column (a) and a little from column (b).

I've spoken with BETD recently as I own an early LTS.

The reason for the more complicated bearings and pivots is down to the fact that they are made in house - Not all I must add some are NOS original stock.

The traditional biscuit couloured bushes are becoming increasingly harder to find and TBH don't last too long. John on this site likens them to being made from cheese!

Bens cycles have NOS original bushes and some later replacement needle bearing kits which I believe where an "enhancement kit".

Whilst a little expensive from BETD the options offered should mean replacment "bits" are easier to comeby moving forward.

Hope this helps a little ;)
