I'm looking for a 58cm but do have room either way, so anything considered really. What's out there?
Many thanks, Rob

Roy Cottingham

Rob,

I have an old Roy Cottingham (of Northampton?) "Profile" road frame that I'm not using.

AFAIK, Roy Cottingham lived in the Northampton area, but passed away (in the late 90s?); He did steel and Ti frames and had a thing for time-trial bikes, which I think this is.

It's not actually "lo-pro" in that it doesn't use a small front wheel. But the top tube slopes down to the headtube joint, so it looks the part if you just want an affordable rider.

From memory:
* 60cm seat tube but the top tube felt shorter than my 58cm Cannondale, so not overly-stretched;
* Red paint (a bit rough) with chrome rear end;
* Reynolds tubing (501C? 531?);
* Chrome fork;
* 126mm rear spacing;
* Mostly lugged but fillet-brazed front end and seat tube cluster to accommodate odd top-tube angles;
* Fillet-brazed "fastback" seat-stay / seat-tube joint;
* Vertical dropouts;
* Downtube shifter bosses;
* Shifter cables routed under BB;
* Internal rear brake cabling inside top tube;
*English BB.

I can't do photos until next week, as it's stored at my parents' place.
Photos will probably reveal that it hasn't aged as well as I would like :( :LOL:

That sounds really good mate. I'm situated in Stourbridge near Birmingham, where abouts in the Midlands are you? I eagerly anticipate your photos. Have you a ballpark figure in mind pricewise?
Cheers, Rob
