Lovely 753 Raleigh that will never sell

Just a quick trip across the border would save UK buyers 20% VAT at least, the £300 duty threshold means whatever complicated rule/levy HMRC apply will bump it up massively.

The thing that gets me though is that if you can prove that an item was originally sold here with the VAT paid and it's taken out of the country then imported back into the UK as a second user item why does one have to pay VAT a second time or indeed duty.

I hope the buyer also remembers that they will have to pay import duties, VAT and post-office handling charges for anything coming out of Switzerland - that'll push the price up considerably. And he doesn't sound like the kind of person to go out of his way to post from Germany unless he would be "suitably compensated".
Personally I think people should avoid buying from this person. His greedy price is one thing but his waffly, windy sales conditions are written purely to ring-fence his own interests to the expense of the buyer.
I bet he worked in financial services!!

It says he's an engineer

Am new here but have to say having read the sellers 'guff' am inclined to agree with the previous posts.
Am a Nottingham ex pat and had to import a couple of framesets to Oz from Europe. Too easy, well packed and not separate boxes, the rest of the bike was hardly touched, both arrived in 4 days.
Having a difficult time finding a good SBDU to spend my hard earned on.
As for the luxurious brown paint. nothing some tlc with a spray gun couldn't fix.
Cheers, Roger
