Lovely 753 Raleigh that will never sell

I gave up about 15 lines in which is my attention span! Did the R in 753 mean Road or Race?

Shaun

Was looking at that last night, great bike but overpriced and that colour is not very appealing!

He's obviously got a lot of time on his hands. Surprising given his age.

It makes a nice change to get a full history from the original owner. Especially when there is a bit of real race history with it.

It was advertised on the Yahoo Groups site about a month ago for £1600, he's presumably adding the eBay fees to the price.
In red/black/yellow they tend to sell for between £700 and £800.
That colour is probably the worst to try and sell, must knock a lot off the value.

I don't mind the colour but the price is way off, the wheels look a bit tired as well.
The way he's written it (not the content) will put a few off from reading it all.
BUT, the biggest tell for me that would put me off (indeed any item) is this.

"I accept return only of the whole consignment in its condition as originally shipped and only for reason of gross misrepresentation and provided the return is notified in writing within 4 days of delivery. Return shipping cost is to buyer's account."

So basically if he's mis-described it or misrepresents anything about it he's asking you to stump the return costs (Circa £120), I don't know what constitutes unfair contract terms in Switzerland but in UK law the seller has to stump for return costs in cases where it's found to be a 'wrong un'.

I hope the buyer also remembers that they will have to pay import duties, VAT and post-office handling charges for anything coming out of Switzerland - that'll push the price up considerably. And he doesn't sound like the kind of person to go out of his way to post from Germany unless he would be "suitably compensated".
Personally I think people should avoid buying from this person. His greedy price is one thing but his waffly, windy sales conditions are written purely to ring-fence his own interests to the expense of the buyer.
I bet he worked in financial services!!
