Looking to buy a multi-tool / Swiss Army knife.

I have the big Swisschamp, only on number 3 as I've lost two over the years. Its fixed headlights in a blizzard to just about anything else I can think of thats needed doing.

The pliers have pretty decent wire cutters hidden away, the bradawl goes through steel and the saw seemingly goes through anything.

The blades are very sharp for about four seconds though, maybe 6 seconds.

I'm never without it.

I use to have a cheap copy of one of these bought for me off a neighbour many years ago only for it to self destruct the 1st time i went to use the flat blade driver on it as one of the pins that held it all together snapped leaving it all in pieces :facepalm: ..

Seems I have one of those, I didn't know it had a name till now!
It looks to delicate for me, so it lives in my desk draw.
I was given a smaller swiss army knife and I always have
that in my pocket, it's very useful.

It wasn't funny at the time but now i couldn't care less about it ..

Looked at a few now and I think it'll be a Leatherman Wave. The range of tools seems to fit in with what I'll use the most.

Good choice so all you need is to find the best deal when buying it ..

I'm a little late to the party but I can't recommend this one enough: http://www.swisstool.co.uk/st/outrider- ... rmy-knife/ I've owned mine for at least 10 years and it's brilliant. I probably use it at least twice a day every day and it;s survived trips all over the world plus two months camping round the UK. I'd be bereft without it. The only accessory you'll need is a stone for sharpening the blade.

Never been a fan of the Swiss knives, I've had some, but never found them heavy duty enough (although I'm sure in a less domestic environment as intended, they'd perform just fine).
I've had a Leatherman Core for around 10 or so years. Bought it while I worked in a camping shop. I never leave home or go for bike rides without it. Even on holidays where the inevitable creaky bed or dodgy door needs sorting....
I've broken one thing on it (the locking spring plate) but I was using it as a hammer...I know which side is best to use now...I sent it off and it came back in 2 weeks all sorted under warranty. It does everything I need except Allen bolts, but I have a beat up old gorilla grip for that. It's the best combination of tools I've ever had for rides. Not even sharpened the blades once. Still have the leather case too. It's fookin 'ard as and good man points when you pull it out and solve a problem with it

Bought a Leatherman Wave in the end. I use it everyday at work (Maintenence Engineer), I use the knife, serrated knife, pliers and screwdriver (for jubilee clips) at least 30-40 times a day. Also occasionly use the other screwdrivers for electrical terminals.
