Wait and see what turns up. Buy at the bottom of the market (i.e. a grand or less) and stick to German, Japanese or Swedish and you won't go too far wrong. The right car is the one you find that's not too far away, keenly priced, and in good nick.

It doesn't hurt if it's the right colour either.

Mine is a 1998 300TD E Class. Have done 34000 miles so far without much more than tyres and a bit of oil.

'99 2 series Merc here....bought 6 mths ago for 300 knicker, done nothing to it, MOT yesterday passed with no advisories (very surprised/happy)....over 240 000 on the clock(ex-taxi). That's nearly to THE MOON. Prob why the missus calls it 'Buzz'.
