Looking for a reliable, 2nd hand family car....

Re:

It's things like this and personal experience that makes me give a very wide berth to anything modern and diesel, my old E38 serves me just fine and I can fix it myself :D

My 2.2 CDTI Honda is supposed to be reliable. The engine is in quite a few older Hondas so would be worth a look I reckon.

I can fix my 16MY Diesel.

But then i have access to the factory....... and all the prototype workshops as well.
And everyone involved in the design, development and build.

So maybe that doesn't count.

don't care if its auto or manual. not fussed about mileage either, but want full service history.

The old kompressor 200 is fine as far as I'm aware, we've had one for 2 years now, but the pulley on the supercharger can be their weak points. and rust. spring turrets can shear off at the front so check around this area.

The second one might have extra wear from those oversized wheels and the c class is a bit small.

I'd go for the E-class but you'd b lucky to find a service history. Check the MOT history online, that will give a better indication https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

With those mercs you often get seized boot locks - lots of WD-40 or equivalent. If the infra red key slot is loose, just screw the bezel back (you'll know)! Knocking at the front is more likely worn shocks (about £60 each and two bolts to change over)

The electrics are pretty stable but the LCD part of the dash can fade.

The battery is under the back seat next to the vacuum pump for the door locks. If you want to change the parcel shelf subwoofers, give me a shout. It all unclips!

And the W210 is 50/50 weight distribution too!

If its BMW, can you put in for a recall on all those BMW's that dont have indicators?

Re:

Mine doesn't, in fact it's the only one round here that has fully working one's, i also let others out of junctions and acknowledge my mistakes, a very rare BMW i'd say
