Looking to upgrade the brakes on my Lynskey sportive .I alway ride it with mudguards and a rear rack and often panniers. So good stopping power is needed . Current drop is 47 /57 mm to allow clearence .
I have basic dia compe fitted at the moment but find them spongy. Kool stop pads are fitted . They are used with tiagra sti levers.
I have deep drop Shimano ultegra on another bike and find they work very well.
Looking at TRP RG95D which have had some good reviews .
Also came across Grand Cru which are eye wateringly expensive.
Any one using deep drop brakes here .
Any comment , ideas, welcome .
Thanks in advance

First thing to check is cables - try some decent ones (I like Campag, SRAM or Transfil) - it's amazing how much braking can be improved by decent cable outers. Much of the sponginess can be compression of the outers. Also check that there is no lost motion around cable stops etc.
I run Tektro R559s on my Witcomb, which is much deeper (63mm) as it is 700c in an old 27" frame. However it's with 1999 Chorus levers which have a better brake lever than Shimano in my view.

Re:

Thank you .
Jagwire XEB Sl compressionless outer cable fitted at the moment . I also use a park cable cutter for a good clean cut. I will have a look at the cable ends to make sure they are not off .
