Lightweight 68 x 118 Bottom bracket, superlight wheels

With so many of the mounts being sold it seems someone is missing a trick - even CRC don't have them listed.

Did see some from the UK on eBay quite recently but none listed at the mo, but the wait on the eBay ones isn't that long, however, your LBS might turn up trumps.

Well, I've just cannibalised a set RockShox Judys for its brake bosses (which I believe are M8 size) and... they're too big for the Manitous! The fori is a Mars, 2001 I think.

Looks like these must be a manufacturer-specific size - can anyone help?? I can only guess the required Manitou bosses are something like M7.

I'd get your tape measure out and check the size as most mounts are generally either M10 or M8 or just get some bolts where you know there size and keep trying until you find one that fits and bingo you know the size you need!

Bosses

Pretty sure they are M6, get an ordinary M6 bolt, as used for Brake bosses and try and screw this in first, let me know if it does, I have a pair of Titanium ones unused if they do ;)

Cheers - just tried with an M6 bolt and it goes straight through unfortunately, so too small. I can only think it's an M7 size. The guy I bought the Mars fork from included a set of bosses that do fit the fork thread but they have a 'shoulder' on them which means that they won't work with this model. These bosses are themselves too small for a 95 Judy fork, which is M8. Sigh...

On the plus side I emailed Manitou CS to see if they could shed any light on the size - they didn't exactly but offered to send out a set for free from the US. Probably will take a bit longer than I want to wait but I won't complain if it fits!

Ah, it was a momentary suspension of logic on my part - the Manitou-sized brake post went through the Rockshox mount because on the Judy there's an unthreaded portion before the brake post reaches the thread - when pushed all the way in it picks up the thread fine, so the Manitou brake post does indeed seem to be an M8 after all! Cheers for your help guys.

It doesn't explain why the Rockshox brake post seems reluctant to screw into the Manitou fork, but never mind, it's the wrong length anyway.

So now I'll just try any M8s that I can get my hands on before the ones from Manitou arrive - anyone have any spare?

I've had another pretty good mooch around on the net and didn't find any for sale in the usual places, CRC, SJS, Wiggle etc so if you're still looking you'd probably be best getting the Ti ones off eBay and hope for a swift delivery - they aren't expensive and they'll be nice and light as well.

My brake boss problem was sorted by the fine people at Manitou CS - (turned up from the USA in less than a week, for free). Now looking for a single pair of V-brake cartridge pad holders.
