Actually there is logic behind my statement - it's lighter and cheaper to braze a mount directly to a steel frame so that is what is usually done, they don't make aluminum brake bosses for obvious reasons, and whilst titanium are available it is more common to find steel removable bosses in ti frames - presumably because if you strip one it's a lot easier to thread a new one in than to have a replacement welded on - also you can't use ti bolts with ti bosses.
