L'Eroica 2010 - ride report

I'd love to do this too - the only slightly limiting factor in my mind is that my vintage bike (a 1958 Bates BAR road/path) is fixed wheel so not sure I'd want to attempt it unless I was in seriously good shape!

It would be a serious proposition on fixed - it's a long climb up to Montelcino and it's not even half-way. I passed rider number 2 about half-way, who probably started at 5.30pm riding a 1920s single speed roadster and came into the finish around 7.30pm..

I probably can't make it next year either......

We just booked our holiday ( last one probably as a complete family.... Daughter will be 18 then) and will have to save/beg/borrow/sell furiously to get the dosh......:0(

Well done, Ed, but I'm a bit surprised you didn't fettle your bike before you set off. Did you think it would have been too easy on a bike that worked?

Where's next on the list Ed?

Funnily, I've just been thinking that.

Thoughts include:

- Tour of Flanders (ride on Saturday, drink Belgian beer and eat frites and mayonnaise the next day will roaring on the pros)

- taking on the Giro d'Italia climbs in the Dolomites or Alps

- Paris-Brest-Paris (truly epic, truly well out of my reach)

-Lands End-John O'Groats (tempting but would take a bit too long)

- Trans Wales MTB (too pricey)

Anything else I should be considering?
