I'm selling this rather lovely Lemond on behalf of a friend who is currently in the throes of downsizing and doesn't have time to sort it out himself, the bike was the subject of a thread back in 2013, link below.

The frame material is Excell Ultra. The replica Team Gans and others of the period were constructed of Excell GLX, but Excell appears to have been a rather eccentric small company that specced and sourced its steel tubing from Mannesman. It marketed a number of tubing variants but there appears to be no other example of a Lemond Team Gan replica in Excell Ultra online or any other frame using it.
There are references to team Lemonds having some lugged and some tig-welded frames but in this instance there's no mount for a team number as there would be on a team bike. The frame weight excluding forks is 1.96kgs, so it is neither particularly heavy nor light. There is also a reference to Lemond making a number of one-offs from remaining components before Trek took over it is just possible that this was a frame with Excell Ultra tubing for evaluation that was built up and sold on, but I appreciate that it speculation.
This bike was built up in 2012 and coincided with the seller's retirement, and other activities took over from cycling shortly afterwards. Consequently, it has had very little use in that setup and has been in storage.
BB marked 54 (frame size). Ambrosio Evolution wheels, Ultegra 6600 front and rear derailleurs, chainset and brakes. Polished alloy Planet X stem, bars and seat post, NOS Selle Italia Flite saddle. Tiagra shifters. Rear brake cable internally routed through frame.
Condition is generally good but in order to avoid disappointment, here are the negative points - fairly minor considering the frame's age
Some touching up to bottom bracket base, rear of seat post clamp and lower section of head tube.
Minor marking to seat post from rear light clamp.
Sub-lacquer corrosion to shifter levers.
Minor wear marks.
Price £450 or near offer, please note that I am not prepared to ship this bike, strictly collection only either from just north of Ipswich or a mutually agreed location that isn't too far to drive! Delivery is possible on either 8th or 12th June if you live anywhere between Ipswich and Cardiff, or between those dates if you are within a reasonable distance of Cardiff.
