Ive heard there's a "l'eroica" award for pre 1990 bikes at this years Ron kitching classic sportive, taking place from york end of june to coincide with the ctc york rally. Sorry, dont know any more, but may be a chance for some of you to ride together.

25th June starting at York Racecourse in connection with York 'Rally' (although they don't call it that now). There are details on the CTC website. A choice of 2 distances, 100k and 150k, both going North from York into Ryedale area and back. just Google 'Ron Kitching Sportive' and you should get some info.

It had crossed my mind to do it but I can't say I'm that enthusiastic about Sportives.

sportifs are a bit too sappy for my liking, too many dudes who take themselves too seriously.

1Duck, as good as your idea is I'm not sure it would be much of a "ride" definitely not at the Angels £1.30 a pint. ;)

but Leeds to York sounds like a good pace to me. I hope plenty will be able to make it if we decide to do some thing more than just a ride there and back.

As we are spread across a wide area, why not arrange a mid morning meet at a cafe where we can meet, enjoy our classic and retro bikes have a short ride together then ride or drive home, that way it would allow people to get together and do short social ride and/or get some miles covered, I might ride the CTC sportive on an 83 Raleigh Record Ace if anyone else is going to do the L'Eroica event

That sounds like a good idea! I'm going to be back every few weeks from Stoke to Leeds so maybe if you post a date and see who can make it?
