Hi all, just found this site. I grew up with these bikes and worked in a bike shop for a time when in college. So great to see a passion for these bikes! I still have my Schwinn that I bought back in the day, but recently became interested in the 90s bikes again while looking for a ride for my son. While searching local listings I found this Kona Cinder Cone. It’s really in a sad state and was headed for the junkyard, so glad I could save it! I absolutely loved these growing up along with Yeti and a few other brands.

Would anyone know what year this frame might be? And any other details or suggestions on putting it back together? I would love to use period components if possible, but not quite sure where to start.

It's a great bike, snappy and quick. I found it around here in Toronto. I love riding it. Its in quite good shape and was all original. I just changed the pedals and seat and grips and shorted up the stem some. Still have all the original parts (even the tires!)

Apparently a mid year release for north America and there were only 100/200 made

A little tinkering yesterday, Kilauea had a shorter 90mm stem fitted and baby Cindercone had Break and Enter tyres fitted,ready for cables and pads.
