Kona's page

I’m sure this has been asked a few times, but I can’t find anything concrete. Has anyone in UK got a decent paint match for a 1991 Purple Explosif? Mine’s faded to blue. I’m sure Vauxhall used to have a very similar purple in the 90s. Ideally it’d be a RAL for powdercoat

No, but some companies may be able to “read the original colour”, it shouldn’t have faded under the dog-collar or front mech clamp.

yes,
Vauxhall has a similar colour..

if you look under the Kona chain stay protector you'll find the original unfaded colour.

Take the frame to a car paint supplier and they'll be able to scan it or match it to a swatch.

The purist in me wants to keep the bike purple, as that’s how it left the factory, but I’m tempted to go for a metallic black like the Explosif Pro or ‘frame only’ option.

Mike Cookson cycles is still in business. Think he’s the main dealer in the area for Trek.
