It is ace bud. But, can it be finished? Ever?
It must be closer than last month lol. Just found some silver hope skewers so had to get them didn’t I. I might try and find an m4 caliper for the front and then there’s the pedals…… I think you’re right!!!

Haha, I'm going to "re-open a case" myself...
I've not touched my lava dome for years... Both in the sense of making changes to it, and also, sadly, riding it. It's probably done 100 miles tops in 10 years.
But, I've realised that I'm happy to get rid of some of the period correct bits that to make it uncomfortable to ride for me. So I'm going to change the bar and stem.
This will inevitably lead to me changing lots of other things and possibly a respray and all sorts of other shizz too.... But hey, that's fine.

All that stuff is reversible and the shorter stem with wider bars makes them a lot nicer to ride. I’m looking forward to seeing it.

Similar situation to me and my Cinder Cone. I fitted a 90mm high rise T-Bone stem and riser bars, I am now using it regularly as it's much more comfortable to ride.
My advice would be to get the bars and stem for yours first, and ride it like that for a bit to see if you like it. If you do, then get the respray/more new parts etc.

1991 20“ Explosif

My most recent built and it drives very quick and smooth. Perfect everyday commuter bike. 1 x 7 drivetrain with 38 teeth upfront. The stem and the handlebar are not period correct but it works out fine for me. Rear brakes are LX 561 cantis and the front brakes are XT 737. The cantis on the rear are quit noisy so I don't need a bell I just have to brake.

Oh that's really nice -- simplicity and purpose!
