Kona with rear V's

.

The clamp that came with mine has been drilled as suggested for V's and works fine - however it gives an irritating angle for the cable as it runs across the top tube that I cannot stand!

Do I remember that one can run Supreme Arches in a front facing configuration on the rear? That may solve the tight bend I'd have to deploy to get the cable to run parallel - digs in boxes of stored brakes... ;-)

you can just make out in the background the magura zip tied to the frame for now until i find somthing better. sorry for that quality pic, i shall go read the guide on resizing

Dodgy pic from my Explosif before I got the cable stop added.

I drilled the clamp out a little, used an allen bolt to put threads in it and then screwed in a rear mech barrel adjuster to hold the cable. It works really well if you can get a noodle with a tight enough turn without creating lots of friction.

Note: The noodle in the pic is not really tight enough but it worked.

Right, ive been very kindly donated a Tectro bolt on cable guide ;)

I still may have a cable stop brazed on before the frame gets painted,it wont be original but hey ho,it will work

Going to see how the tectro works first

a cog hog in place of the noodle can help smooth the bend. i have pics of mine somewhere on here that's been done this way

Having a proper cable stop brazed on is the best solution if you're having the frame painted anyway. I inherited one on my 94 Kilauea and I'm certainly glad of it. The clamp-on stops work fine, but they look a bit of a mess and it can be a bit difficult to find one to fit a 28.6 top tube. Drilling out the canti guide looks like a sound idea - but maybe the angle would work better with a 135 degree noodle off the front?

[Just as the 'rear' 90 degree noodle works better than a 135 on the front in LHD countries IMPO!]

i tried this

it might work well on gate-sized frames, but on smaller ones, the space is just too small for the longer noodle.
