Kona - Project splatter .The return..pg5

Thats turned out rather nice Si

HJow the hell have you got it that light

:) Thanks Chris.. TBH.. I've no idea about the overall lack of weight :( it amazed me I was expecting around 24-26lb fully built,,, I think a lot of it is down to the wheels as they weigh nothing..along with the WCS ritchey tyres and latex tubes.. nokon cable , full ti and alloy bolts . and the Rocket Science quilled stem is the lightest stem I have ever felt, aided by a nice alloy quill bolt within..

Really looking forward to seeing how it rides and a repaint is on the cards if I like it.. :)

After some nice light tubes myself Si, got a link to any good but reasonably priced ones?

Lets have a full bike pic of it too ;)

I'm not going to reveal the 'full on' shot yet,, want to get the rest of the nokon cables built and chain / cassette on ;)

If your after inner tubes,, the ones on here are maxxis flyweights and they were a tenner a piece so not cheap... maybe best bet is the bay for cheap ones.. :) although crc have a few offers... :)

I can hear those wheels crying from here.

:? Dont you mean clicky clicky clicking

I think the wheels will be ace through winter months as there is a decided lack of spokeage so it will allow for the mud and crap to escape easier , and also save me some time cleaning

And man are they light .. certainly part of the reason the bike is light.. :)

TBH i was not going to use them on this build but I think they look quite good and certainly if I go for the re-spray in the new year they should tie in nice :)

When you go for the respray, those wheels may just stop crying! ;)

Did you do anything to the hubs, or do you think they are ok?

I see you have a new Avatar, rather scary that I use the same one on around 10 different forums I frequent, is it your eyes that I feel in the back of my head on dark nights?

Well as long as it rides nice then a respray is on the cards.. :)

I have not done anything with the wheels as yet chap, although I did notice when I've fitted the cassette that the freehub seems very stiff ? I'll see how we go and then if needs be do some surgery.. ;)

Yea Kermit is having a holiday for a while , so I thought it was about time the Monkey showed his face again..

I think the avatar that you use may be his brother who went missing around 1975 ,

Well still on with this,, need to get the components spot on before respray,, but fitted the crank today and very pleased with the look of it.. :)
