Kona Ku

Well I'm sure your eyes are better than mine Geoff, but the Ku font doesn't look to me quite like this example on a 95 Lava Dome, where the top tube font/edging is exactly the same as on the down tube. Where is the black edging on Ku?

At that res, and even with Imagezoom in Firefox, I'm dammed if I can say whether there is or isn't black edging. I guess all shall be revealed when it arrives. Whatever year it is, it looks damn nice (for an alu frame :p ).

does this help?

I'm getting more certain it's 95...

ill get some pics of the decals, up, it has the nice 'handbuilt by Kona' decal too.

I dont know if theres any more info on the frame under the gear cable guide on the BB as the KU015 serial is also partly obscured.

What about the Score? Far less were made than the Ku.

agreed, but they are modern bikes ;)

That's true...it's a brand new 2000 model freeride bike with a whopping 4" of travel!!!! But anyway, he said rarest Kona, not rarest retro Kona. However, as it's on here, I should have used my better judgement. ;) My Score was a slow pig today, there was so much mud. A Ku would have kicked it´s ass. :D

Im only jealous Paul, I would love a Score, having liked the Hei Hei I had (I didnt love it, Id like to try a 16") I reckon a Score would be awesome, especially as its pretty similar to my Litespeed.

And my Ku will be slow for two reasons: 1) its only getting one gear, and 2) Ill be turning the pedals.

He he...yeah that´s half the reason my Score was slow today...me riding it! ;) No, it was awsome last week when the ground was frozen. We got tons of speed and lots of air, so were a bit disappointed today when everything turned to mud again. Definitely a fun bike. The Ku shouldn't be slow as an SS though. My King Kahuna is set up SS and it rips along pretty fast. One of our friends had his Cotic out today setup SS and he was flying along...but he usually is anyway. I look forward to seeing pics of the Ku when it's finished! Despite not many people being fans of alloy on here (I don´t hate it, but prefer the feel of steel or ti) they can be pretty fast and light bikes. Just a little bumpy. I´m sure you´ll be pleased as punch with it...or chuffed as you say over there :D

hmmm, maybe, I have P2s, or a rather lovely pair of White Bros sus forks in a fetching gold colour with fat tubes that will match the Easton tubes of the frame pretty well.

Oh, and top marks for Geoff, eye-test for Anthony ;)

Custom Ku

I have had an Orange Custom Ku for many years. Love it and the way it rides. About 30 minutes into this site (thus my searching for custom Ku's). When I figure out my way around here, I will post a picture or two.
