Hi, thanks for the link, very interesting. Well, the bottom race finally gave up the ghost a few months ago, and try as I might, I couldn't track down a direct replacement. However, the upper race was still like new, as were the bearings, so I've left all that as is, and simply put the lower half of a standard 1 1/8 VP on instead.
All works great still, and it's now been pressed back into service as a daily commuter, doing between 23 and 33 miles a day, depending on how knackered I feel, so I'm now looking forward to the next 20 years with the old girl.
