looks nice, check out the bb threads, but...

CAVEAT EMPTOR

is a little worrying

If its that good, why should the Buyer Beware? Could just be a solicitor who's selling it I suppose.

I think he means never buy anything off somebody who can't spell and doesn't know what year his bike is and will even show you a picture of a different bike in the previous year's catalogue as if it was the one that's for sale.

Seriously though, I guess he means something like 'sold as seen', but I doubt if he is a solicitor because then he would know that caveat emptor doesn't apply. If you bought the frame and found that there was a defect that he hadn't mentioned, you would still have legal rights. A seller can't void your legal rights just by writing caveat emptor in an eBay listing.

A less good condition Hei Hei raised £670 last night, so it'll be interesting to see how this 99 one does.

You can't ream a seat tube smaller. He means he's put a shim in so that the seat tube accepts 26.8 seat posts instead of the normal (for Kona ti) 27.0 posts.

HTH

:)

You'll ride a long way before you find a 27.0 to 26.8 shim! Somewhere just beyond the end of a rainbow perhaps.

Who said anything about a 0.2 shim?

I'd imagine you'd remove the shim that's in there and replace it with another size.

Oh, I thought there was a shim built into the Hei Hei, I didn't know you could just take it out. So it's just a plain-gauge 31.8 x c1mm tube with an ordinary shim? Must be strong stuff. But then it is.

Anyway glad to know that a ti frame makes a steel one feel like lead!

It's just an alu shim in there. I've never tried to take the one out of the KK and exchange it for another one though. :)
