I came sooo close back in the 90s to owning a lush Kona and stupidly ( for me ) went for a Muni Mula....

I'll never ride an alu hardtail ever again!

Sorry, I'm damaged goods. I hate alu hardtails.

Mate, I did the same thing.
I had the cash to buy a brand new '97 Kilauea, that was in the my local bike shop.

But I was young and inexperienced, and brought a aluminum Koa and some Rock Shox Indy instead.

It was a rubbish situation for me, because it took me many, many months to save up so much cash - and I knew I'd made a mistake.

I've never forgiven aluminum - or myself for not buying the Kilauea instead.

The splatter paint ones are made out of scaffold pipe. They do handle well once you've sweated your way to the top of a hill:
