Kona Explosif

Magas really, I'm surprised at you, tut tut! :p

Ladies and gentlemen, we have now for auction a 1994 size 20 Kona Explosif with 1996 Judy SL fork. The seller wrongly thinks that it is a full-suspension bike made of aluminium and he can't be bothered to mention that it has a Bontrager/Titec titanium handlebar and a green headset, which could be a CK. Unfortunately the opening bid is too high to get an auction started at US prices, but it looks quite nice anyway with its biscuit-coloured tyres and eye-catching big ring. Any bids ladies and gentlemen?

No? OK, well then the next lot is ....

 shame on me

there's only one specialist for Kona - A n t h o n y :)

Interesting mix of parts, particularly the suntour shifters with shimano drive train, which are actually compatible if the shifters are 8 speed. Of course, the whole question of shimano/suntour compatibility is probably alien to the seller, who seems to have very little understanding of what he actually has.

I wonder if the cranks are anything special.

Hi,

I'm the seller for the Kona Explosif. You're right, I don't know much about it, isn't mine. Any other questions I'll be happy to check. This is my first time to this site, heard about it from a fellow ebayer, he told me the bike was being talked about here.

The biggest question people will have is about the condition of the frame. Scratches are generally expected, but is there any rust, dents or dings?

Also, as somebody else already noted, that headset looks like a King. Is the name "King" etched onto the cups?

One other question: do you have the rigid Kona fork by chance?

Thanks!

It doesn't appear to have any dents or dings, does have scratches. The headset says King no threads. There is a little rust on the one side of the bar that connects the tire to the frame. Sorry, I don't know a lot about these.

almost forgot: could you measure the distance from the center of the crank bolt to the point where the top tube meets the seat tube and/or the top of the seat tube (i.e. the top of the clamp that holds the seatpost)?

There are people here who can tell what size it is just by looking, but having those measurements would be very helpful. Thanks again!
