He's selling it as he busted his Knee (10 years ago) and not likely to get back on this bike.

.....at least we know what caused that ding on the top tube ;)

Ding was caused by the barends spinning around and bashing into it so its always a good idea to check barends clear the top tube when setting them up :?
Did the exact same thing to my new clockwork though was lucky the end just clipped and chipped off some paint :(

As to the explosive and its hopeful price, i would have said £350 inc post

Reason to this is i sold my clockwork when i joined here and it was similar build with the hope wheels(sport front/Ti rear). XT mechs on stx rapidfire. Z2's 80mm, C2's Roox stem and post and a CK headset was about the sum of it. I did inc another Z2 ,some lights and odds and sods Nice build, but still not as complete as the kona here :?
I got £450 for the clockwork and i reckon that was pushing it somewhat.

HI Lads,
its not about being un-welcoming. Bikes been on here for ages. a few have tried to offer advice on what its worth, splitting to maximse your sale ect. if the bike had been original and immaculate down to the tyres then you might find a buyer at that kind of price. I think you have a nice honest bike with a common type of dent. The build is very nice for a period bike, but marz/hope/739 xt isnt spectacular or rare by any means. Hence the repeated commenst about your valuation. Its also a 20" so a has a lesser number of potential buyers.

As others have said. £350 it would sell. £450 bin on ebay it "might" find a buyer.

Once you have been around the forum for a while you will understand.
The "For Sale sections" have specific rules about comments, especially regarding price and have tough moderators to control this.. look back on the orginal advert and see what sort of commenst it got.
the "Ebay Section" section is open season for members to comment as they please. Hence the reaction above.

This forum is one of your biggest potential sale options. However anyone buying an retro kona on here is going to be clued up on its value.

Good luck with your sale.

I have watched this since it was first listed and have made offers upon every re list. It will never go for the Ebay asking price, as many of us know already. Not when you can buy a top of the range Retro bike for £50. Which I know myself and some others have done. It may bring just over £200. As a point of note, an original early 90's Kona Explosif sold on Ebay last week for £165. I bought one for £65 two years ago.

Perhaps one of the "tight" community can help you with the pricing?

Even without the dent it's way way overpriced but then you must know this as it keeps getting relisted.... Worth even less with the dent so some realistic pricing may help your sale

Did you think listing it on a public auction site would have no members of the public commenting on it?

Price it right and it will sell.... It's an old bike with a dent in it.... How much would you pay for it?

Sorry to hear about your knee
