Kona Explosif 1995 & 9 speed xtr compatibility?

Advice please, I am in the process of collecting components for an early 1995 explosif restoration project.

Going to restore frame to former glory but wan't to put latest full xtr onboard, can anyone tell me if it will work? Obviously want it to work as sweetly as xtr is meant to but am concerned that the frame wasn't designed for it?

If I can then I want to put on m70 rapidfire leavers but what Derailleur as there seem to be many variations & whats the difference?

Any advice/experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I have a '93/94 Hei Hei which I've kitted out with XtR without any issues at all...works very smoothl.

I'd say the only thing to look out for is getting the front mech size & cable direction right (top/bottom pull)

if like my 1994 kilauea your explosif's seat tube ovalises at the bottom you will need to find a front mech that is high band. i just found this out as i bought the low band m950 mech and it doesnt fit- doh!
