Hi guys
A while ago i picked up a 2000 Kona kaboom ss frame for next to nothing and intended to build it as it was ment to be ie ss but i cant help thinking it would make a nice little xc bike which tbh i would probably use more
( also got an 88 Fisher hkek that would make a nice ss ! )
anyway my question is does anyone know if i could use bolt on drop outs from another Kona to convert it ? or am i wasting my time and need to just sell it and get a geared frame ? i have heard its pretty rare frame and i love the olive green colour :D
cheers paul

Don't like single speed and never had one so I have no clue, sorry.
Not that I'm an expert. ;)

I'd either leave it as SS, or else look into the hub gear option, the Shimano offerings seem to fare well and are relatively inexpensive (at least compared to a Rohloff setup!).
It would be something a bit different.

Re:

Thanks for the replies chaps , tbh the cost and faff of hub gears isnt worth doing .
Might try it ss as intended , or just sell / swop it for a geared frame , it was really the fact that the Cowan frame i had had horizontal drop outs which the cnc bits bolted on to but i cant remember if they were open ended like a track drop out .
more research needed :D

Cheers paul
