Kona Cinder Cone 1989 - now with more sensible pictures!

I have just purchased a 1988 Cinder cone from a car boot sale for a couple of quid, guy had no idea. it was filthy but mostly original!
This is the very first one with the u brake under the chain stays, not seen another like it!!

Rims were Ukai UM-20's if standard.....nice bike

The "Splattery one" and the "Spotty one" are different years IIRC.

Splattery was earlier approx 88/89 whilst Spotty was later around 89/90.

There is something about white that works with these frames. I prefer the 90 with the silver themed groupset and rear canti but this is a very close 2nd

Was the blue speckle on yours original?

Yep... Completely original
Mine appears to be more specklely than splattery than others I have seen tho... I guess thats the nature of hand painting

Has anyone seen a 1988 first production cinder cone anywere?
trying to down load pictures and wondering how much it was worth!!
