Kona A'ha

Few more bits fitted. Wasn't sure on the tyres, but wanted tan wall and most of its use will be bit of road, canal path etc so hopefully the billy bonkers will fit the bill, although they seem to come up narrower than the 2.2 they are!

I'm a bit gutted the rear spacing is 112mm. After always wanting one of these I'd had plans for an internal hub geared set up. But finding a hub and building a wheel up around that hub would be a bit of a mission.... Single speed to start with!

I think it may well end up having a red chainring, but it'll be either sat on a silver or black set of cranks.... Its just finding something

Although I've seen a few red raceface cranks on ebay which are tempting

OK.... Problems

Fitted a set of cranks obviously a lot more modern so chain line is way out.

Couple of questions, I've moved one of the driveside spacers over to the non driveside, I presume this is OK?

I've also found out about chainring offsets!! How do I know what the one on there is? I presume I could get a 6mm offset which makes the ring sit closer to the frame? But then if this is a 6 already I'm a bit stuffed

Also.... Anyone know which tool I need to remove the rear cog? It looks like there's a spacer on the outside so I'm thinking I can move it outwards a bit to help

Thanks

You need a hook wrench for that lock ring and likely a chain whip to remove it.

Chainring looks like a 3mm offset one. But take it off that crankarm. It says '30t' right where it touches the crank. That's likely where all the specs are listed.

Thanks, I've seen a few tools with 4 notches but not two

Ring is now off and I can't see anything obvious about the offset

Well....looks like Race Face does not sell chainrings with different offsets. Could not find any info on different offset chainrings on their site.

It's likely your chainline is set by the spindle length of your cranks and should be 52mm.

So you might be stuck.
Wolftooth Components is selling RF compatible chainrings with different offsets, though.
