Knebworth Race in 1991??

I was racing. It was an odd race. Fully catered, with deluxe pasta party, TV coverage (commentated by Phil Liggett) and the Raleigh team showed up. There was a qualifier race on the Saturday and then Sunday's race, due to the TV cameras, was shortened to 17 laps of a one mile loop. I was third over the line (having been lapped about 10 times)

First time I saw Mike Jackson's Yeti Ultimate, and Dave Hemming's red, white and yellow DOGSBOLX, complete with (fully aluminium) prototype Pace suspension forks… Happy days. Although I did grind off the corner of my purple Grafton cranks off on the skate park there…

And you may have had a go on a Kona mountain bike sidecar outfit and, due to rider and passenger getting their leaning and cornering a little wrong, ended up taco'ing the rear wheel.

Was that there? Yes, I do remember that. Had to buy a new wheel for it :-(
Fun while it lasted though! :)

Yep, you and I had to go halves on replacing the owner's wheel.

I seem to remember it was built with motorbike spokes...

That may have been what we were told at the time, but it's unlikely to have been true given the normal design, gauge and length of motorbike spokes just wouldn't marry up with MTB hubs and rims.
