Hi all - not been on here for a while but sadly it's time to part with my mantra so thought this would be a good place to start (had it on ebay for 1 day then I realized i'd be crippled by the fees so cancelled it sharpish) 1998 Klein Mantra Race in the Koi Fade colourway, size medium - fantastic condition & excellent spec with some nice high end parts, looking for £850
Frame - Klein Mantra Race, Klein Gradient tubing made in Chehalis Washington - measures 18.5" to top of seat tube / 15.5" to top of top tube, approx 22.5" effective top tube, 4" head tube. The original decals on the rear triangle were removed as they were looking slightly untidy, I actually prefer it without them, paint is in excellent condition with only a couple of small scratches on the main frame, some paint missing around the shock mount area but hard to see unless shock removed. Cane Creek AD (5/9?) air shock, lighter than the original Fox Alps (but no rebound adjustment) - seems to be losing air over a couple of days but hasn't ever seen much use so should just need a seal replaced - this is a really simple shock & can be fully serviced at home. Original WTB Greaseguard headset fitted.
Fork - 2001 Rockshox Judy SL, lightweight reliable coil forks, medium spring fitted, again I removed the decals from these as I preferred the cleaner look - these were serviced not long ago by me with Stendec oils & I fitted new Enduro seals at the same time, I rebuilt the entire bike at that time & it's done less than 100 miles since, all on paths. The rebound adjuster doesn't seem to be working but it never bothered me, the adjuster was possibly turned when the forks were stripped - should be easy to fix if you're bothered. Adjustable internally 60/80/100mm travel - currently 100mm as it slackens the head angle a bit & makes the front end less prone to diving.
Wheels - 2000/2001 Mavic Crossmax, seriously lightweight wheels in fantastic condition with bladed spokes & ceramic rims - tubeless compatible but currently running Maxxis Xenith 1.5" slicks with tubes, these retailed at £400 originally & run like a dream.
Chainset - Race Face Next LP carbon cranks with original 22/32/44 chainrings in fantastic condition, these originally retailed at £300
Gears - 9 speed XT shifters & rear mech with an LX front (matches the rear triangle), all cables replaced recently. Ultegra 9 speed cassette 12-25(?)
Brakes - Avid Speed Dial 7 levers with Single Digit 7 V-Brakes, again in fantastic condition with recent cables & pads.
Finishing kit - Thomson stem, Syncros seatpost / bars / quick releases, all in excellent condition, SDG Ventura saddle, glitter effect with Kevlar corners, random gel grips which match the saddle pretty well.
Any questions or for more specific photos please ask, I'm bound to have forgotten something - weighs around 25lbs if that matters to anyone - don't really want to sell this but I have too many bikes (according to my wife) & sadly I can't actually remember the last time I rode this. Since we moved house a couple of months ago it's been sitting in the dining room & if I move it into the loft it'll stay there forever so it's time to move it on so someone else can enjoy it.
Any questions or for further photos please email me at john.mcabney(at)glasgow.ac.uk & i'll get back to you asap, cheers!
