Klein Headset Compatability

Morning all, I have a 99' Klein Attitude that's got a damaged downtube and a 99 Adroit has come up (on here) but has no headset/forks etc. Does anyone know if the headset from the Attitude could be transfered to the Adroit? I seem to remember the later 98/99 Trek Attitude/Adroits were practically the same frames? Might be off with that, but if anyone can let me know it'd be appreciated. Cheers and apologies to the purests by talking late 90s!

Straight 1-1/8" ahead with the bulge-formed headtube IIRC, so completely interchangeable.
Trek dropped all that weird non-standard, hexadecimal, change every year, nobody else understands, 'cutting edge' s**t that Gary Klein insisted on.

All the best,

Hi there,

It will not be a straight fit I’m afraid.

Although the Adroit and Attitude frame tubes were the same the headset was different.

You could make it work but the Adroit would need an adaptor set so you could run the 1 1/8” fork

Yes, Mark's right, my mistake.

The '99 Adroit Pro and Race still had the Mission Control 3 headset system.
Only the lower models have the bulge formed standard 1-1/8" headtube.

You'll need head cup adapters to fit the standard fork into a Mission Control head tube.

All the best,
