here is mine
apologies for the poor lighting and image quality, will grab some more at some point outside (weather was crappy today and real life caught up)
this is either a 98 or 99 - can't quite remember! Bought by me at Tiso's in Glasvegas. It's obviously post Trek era, but still an original Chehalis Klein factory frame (ie pre the move to building the frames in the trek factory). Size medium (about 17.5 - 18 inches CTT) - internal cable routing (oh the joys), no disc mounts. the metallic sky blue Paint still looks stunning, though there are inevitable small scrapes and stone chips here and there if you look close - the worst one is some chainring rub on the drive side stay
components:
- Forks are the original Judy XC hydrocoils which came with the bike (those got taken off for a set of 2nd hand pace31's pretty early on in my ownership, when I grew away from doing proper MTB'ing and the bike became more of a city commuter in terms of use - as a result they are in also in very good condition)
- original unbranded (presumably tektro) brakes and levers swapped out by me for XT levers and Avid Arch rival 5's about 15 odd years ago
- original 'Bontrager Icon' square taper cranks, and stem (stem is fine - nice and light, but the cranks look a bit shit TBH, still - perfectly functional). BB is original Shimano UN72 - no play or issues
- pedals are alloy DMR v8's but also have various used Time Atac and or a newish sent of Crank Bros Candy's I could throw in
- Bars are 580mm flats - branded 'outland' - light at around160g. Almost brand new spank spire lock on grips (not very retro, but they are nice grips)
seat post was replaced for the obligatory Thomson elite and I'm not sure if the WTB laser 5 saddle is original or not - but it is comfy and looks great! (also still have the original unbranded seat post)
- Original XT/LX mega9 drive train replaced by me about 10 years ago for a shimano Zee based 1x10 set up (11-36 cassette, 38T NW chainring) - however I still have all the original drive train parts (though rerouting the FD cable would be fun..)
- Wheels are the original 28/24 spoke 'Bontrager Superstocks' - Decent wheelset, quite light and still run true and smooth, but the rims are probably close to end of life on the brake tracks. Brand new inner tubes and tyres are 1.95inch lightweight panaracer trailblasters from back in the day (full tread left - almost NOS condition)
