Klein as an investment?

So what do old kleins really go for nowadays? I looked at my local CL and there are 10 kleins with cantis and quite a few with vbrakes. The 10 with cantis range from $280 to $550 asking. Rascals, pinnacles, pulses and attitudes.

There is a pink and blue fade attitude for $550 and what looks to be the same year and model (1992) attitude on eBay going for $3,700 with a staring bid of $2,900. Buying that attitude for $550 on CL and selling it on eBay for $2,900 or $3,700 would be a nice return. Maybe even let someone bargain down to 2,500 to make them feel like they got a deal and that's still 2k profit!

Isnt that the way most of us fund their projects/stable? Catch a bargain, use some parts and sell the rest (to go even or make a profit?

You could easy get some money when you also will send to Europe. There arent loads of Kleins over here (and the Germans seem to pay good money for decent Kleins :)

Cheers

Its a gamble. We must admit that we are a fringe hobby and as such, we aren't going to get many of the tertiary demand pushes say a classic car or even vintage guitar would get.

So much depends on what you paid to begin with. Is a mint $3000 Klein going to get you $6000 in a decade? Could ... could also get you $2500. :?

Best not dwell - Buy'em, build'em, ride'm/look-at'em, and have a bit of fun. All good things.

Couldnt have put it better myself, retro bikes dont make sound investments IMO.

Agree. We are born to ride!! That said I think there will always be a huge interest in Klein’s from us forty somethings who lusted over these bikes in our teens. What is interesting is that while we craved them it didn’t stop us enjoying what we had and being out in the wild On our 30lb + bikes.
