King of Mercia 92276 thinking of selling > (Sale Agreed)

Just seen this topic after adding to an existing post for a similar bike.

I have a 1976 (92276) King of Mercia which I really should let go to a home where it will be used!

I purchased it for my retirement from a friend who had the Frame restored at Mercian and new components fitted :-
Brake levers, Calipers and Cables, Brake blocks, Handlebars, Gear Cables, Chain, 5 Speed Regina freewheel block, Saddle.
I have fitted new tyres (since the Photos) it's in superb condition and had little use over the last 8 years (kept in heated/Dehumidified Garage).
Runs really well but a bit too high geared for me at 71 (I have 2 KHS Mountain bikes with Granny gearing - suits me better).
Here are a few photos if anyone may be interested + a help on price would be appreciated.
Clive

Re: King of Mercia 92276 thinking of selling

Wow! What size is it? 23 1/2 inches at a guess.

Re: King of Mercia 92276 thinking of selling

Not sure? I'm 6Ft 1-1/2" and it suited me on trial ride so I just had to buy it. (A bit more colourful than my Titanium grey 1994 KHS Montana Comp)
Will have to get the tape measure out and add the information.

Re: King of Mercia 92276 thinking of selling

Just been through the Classic "Road Bike" Measurement - It's a 23" (58cm)
Frame measurements are :-
Seat Tube CT Centre to Top (Vertically) 23"
Seat Tube CC Centre to Centre (along the Tube) 24"
Top Tube Length 22-1/2"
Looking on ebicycles.com web site for Rider Height Chart it would appear my test ride proved ok as for a 23" they show :-
Height range 5'9" to 6'2" and more importantly Inside Leg 33-1/2" to 34" (I'm 6'1-1/2" with 34" I-Leg)
In the right place at the right time for this purchase; I was about the same build as the friend I bought it off (he had about 4 or 5 Mercians and this one he hardly used).
The Tyre size is 700x25C

Any other suggestions on it's worth would be welcome (at LEAST £500 on the other Post I inadvertantly started with  )

Thanks Clive, have you decided if you're going to sell your King of Mercia? And if so, what price? As I'm still very new to this forum, forgive me if it"m being too forward in asking such a direct question :) I may well be interested if you are selling.

Re: King of Mercia 92276 thinking of selling

I'm also an old newby !, joined the Forum in 2012 to register my 2 KHS Mountain bikes, no activity since then up to last Thursdays posting " King of Mercia 92276 thinking of selling", looks like the posts on this topic have upgraded me to "Dirt Disciple".

Decided yes to selling but was hoping for some feedback on this "The one and only "HOW MUCH IS MY xyz WORTH" forum for a fair pricing, nothing from this forum yet and just the one suggestion (from the other posting) at LEAST £500.

Have seen NOT allowed to suggest make me an offer on other postings, so am waiting a few days to see if there is more than one feedback on a fair price to ask. Failing more advice being offered I will have to make a decision, don't want to undervalue it or be ott.
Thanks for your interest Ray, will post again later this week, hopefully.

Re: King of Mercia 92276 thinking of selling

Thanks Clive, can I ask does your King of Mercia have the full sloping Cinelli fork crown that the Mercian catalogue of the 70's appears to show? Also, I can't see the heart cutouts on the lugs that are or were a trade mark, I believe, of the King of Mercia model. Would you have any of the original paperwork, by any chance?
Look forward to hearing from you again soon.
VB, Ray

Re:

No paperwork I'm afraid just a bill of sale (29/06/2007) from friend for "King of Mercia" 92276 (I didn't know what all the models were/are, and still don't I'm afraid, just took his word for it as he had 4 or 5 of them!) 2 Colleagues at work had Mercians and recommended them, hence the purchase).

I have included the remaining photos I have, hope they help you to see what you are looking for on the fork crown, not sure about the heart shaped cutouts on the lugs though? if you need any more photos I can get some taken if you specify whats required.
