killer caad3... worth it?

Ok its now officially mine. The pic at the start of this thread was taken in 2007 and was just emailed to me by the same guy. Here are some pics I took awhile ago and I havent started cleaning it up. When I came by to pick it up I found it hanging in a shack thick with dust... says it's been there for the past couple of years and it was never built up. My problem is that stem. It's made by Syntace called "Bio-Cam" whatever that is... tho I'd love to change it to a nicer and more normal looking stem looks like I'm stuck with it since I dont have a clue where to find a replacement with a 39.6mm steerer clamp (am I right?).

Oh btw for an additional £55 I also got me a pair of NOS Mavic CrossLand UST wheels that should go nicely with the Killer. In total I paid £101 for the lot.

are you brain damaged? £ 46?!?!?!!? grab it. I read it originally as £ 466 ... which seems a little steep for just frame and forks.

I rather like the stem - a red/black colour combo would look ok. It certainly is a bit different - makes sure you do up them bolts well.

Don't quote me but I reckon you need to look at cannondale oversized stems for lefty forks - there is few on ebay and other places.

Stems are still available, don't know if standard 1.5" works on a headshock? I'd say that one is a bit special though, wouldn't be changing it myself. Do check the bars though - I believe that they're a matched pair with the stem (is it VRO?) so that the right places are reinforced for the clamp.

I think like you said they're a matched pair. The bar says Syntace V2 Ultralight still uncut. Anyway I'd take your advice and keep them but cut the bar a bit coz it's tooo wide for me.

Don't talk about cutting bars, you'll make me cry - a retro bar in a proper usable width with good sweep and light to boot: that's a flinkin' miracle right there and worth all of what you've paid! At least try it first...

Stems should be easy to come by, any cannondale dealer should have a selection of different lenghts and rises...
allways worth looking on fleabay as you could pick up another bargin !!
as has been said, i wouldnt cut them bars down... if you realy dont like them put them back up for sale and what you raise
should be more than enough to cover the cost of replacement bars/stem.

Mick :)
